Big Tunes Live! Presents: JAH CURE & Band
Mama Africa Tour
1st African Tour Ever! – September 2011
Siccaturie Alcock, p/k/a Jah Cure, is recognized today as “The High Priest of Reggae.”
Born in Hanover, Jamaica on October 11, 1978, but raised in Kingston Town, golden-voiced singer Jah Cure became involved with reggae music as a teenager and rapidly rose to fame in the late '90s before his musical journey was suddenly and unexpectedly interrupted with imprisonment.
While in jail, Cure recorded and released several records, many of which topped the charts as # 1 singles. Two songs, “Jamaica,” produced by DZ Productions and “Longing For,” produced by Don Corleon, both hit # 1 on the Jamaican reggae charts and were international hits. Cure’s first album, “Free Jah's Cure The Album the Truth,” was recorded in jail and subsequently released in 2001, approximately one year after he began his incarceration, followed by the release of three hit albums “Ghetto Life” in 2003 produced by Beres Hammond featuring the single “Divide and Rule”, Freedom Blues in 2005 plus The Universal Cure (2009) and a number of singles which have won him critical and popular acclaim, some of which have topped the Jamaican and international music charts
Cure’s new album, “WORLD CRY,” is his second recorded album since his release from prison. The first single off that album, “Unconditional Love,” recorded with his label mate, recently shot to the top of the charts and became the # 1 Reggae single worldwide. That collaboration was the first of many for Cure on the upcoming album. The album contains collaborations with Tupac, Keri Hilson, Mavado, MDMA, Rick Ross, Jazmine Sullivan, Shyne and several others, crossing the reggae, hip-hop, Latin, Pop and R&B genres. His new single, "Like I See It," featuring Rick Ross, and the re-mix with dance hall king Mavado, are starting to rock the international clubs and dance halls across the reggae Diaspora. It is widely expected this record is destined to be his fourth # 1 consecutive single.
Since his release in 2007 Jah Cure has also topped the music charts with two other # 1 singles "Call on Me" featuring his label mate Phyllisia and "You’ll Never Find.
Other Jah Cure’s hit singles include "Love Is", "Longing For", "Hot Long Time" (feat. Flo Rida, Junior Reid & Mavado), Good Morning Jah Jah, King in This Jungle (featuring Sizzla) and "True Reflections", showing his unique voice and lyrical ability.
His first concert after he was released took place at the Reggae Sundance in August 2007. He was the last headlining act and his star has risen considerably since then.
